Web 2. What?

Not sure what all the talk about web 2.0 is about and what it is? Here is a quick, down and dirty reference about it. First, what happened to web 1.0 or the original world wide web? Nothing…it is still here, however, it has been enhanced and taken to new levels, giving it the new name of web 2.0.

According to Wikipedia, Web 2.0 is a term describing changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users. A lot of the websites that are being designed and focused on web 2.0 technologies include social networking websites, blogs, video sharing sites, wikis, and hosting services.

Web 2.0 sites allow people to do more than what was possible with a web 1.0 based website and do more than just retrieve information. Web 2.0 websites use rich, user friendly interfaces and encourage interaction with the users to have them add value to the site. Sites are using technologies such as Ajax, jsQuery, CSS, XML, and more.

Web 2.0 is one of the latest buzzwords to hit the internet and world of website development and internet business. It is all about user generated content and collaboration from readers, visitors, and other websites.

To get your site put together featuring all of the latest web 2.0 technologies including a blog, RSS, and user generated content, then contact me so that we can get your business up and running on the internet.

New Client Project Launched

In May I secured a new client, Chesapeake Industrial Cleaning Products. After meeting with the owner, he told me that he came across my business by searching the internet for local web designers in the Ellicott City and Howard County, Maryland areas. Apparently after emailing a bunch of different people/businesses, I was the first to respond even with a 2 day delay on my part. So, that made me feel good to hear. Anyway, we got everything worked out and within a month launched his brand new website.

The project was a redesign of his old site which had not been updated for more than 3 years except for some minor content changes. The results are drastic and turned out really well.

We are still alive!

I know it has been a long time since our last update on this blog so I thought it was about time to write something! I am currently working with one new client (secured them in the beginning of May) and wrapping up work with an old client as well. Besides these two clients, our plate is pretty open…so if you are looking to have your website redesigned or need any other sort of web related services, do not hestitate to contact me!

Main Street Radford website work completed!

Before the new year I started working with Main Street Radford to make some small minor changes to their website that would allow it to be more user friendly, attractive, and be up to date. I also trained them in how to make general page content updates.

Well, after a lot of extra time because of different delays, we were finally able to wrap up everything that we needed to get done.

Here is a quick list of some of the things that my programmers and I did for them:

Overall, it was a great opportunity and I am happy to report that the client is very satisfied with the work that we accomplished!

Launched: Temple Workout Gear

Just a quick note that we launched a new updated version of the Temple Workout Gear website that we had previously created using a free e-commerce script. Some of the things that the client wanted to do required that we upgrade to a paid version of the script, which also required more customization.

Anyway, I just launched the new site at www.templeworkoutgear.com.

New Client: Elite Entrepreneurs

I am happy to announce that just a couple days ago I picked up a new client. The services that I will provide include a custom Wordpress theme design and a partner of mine, Jason, will code the theme to work with the latest version of Wordpress and be able to support many of the different widgets that are being released.

I previously worked with Jason on the relaunch of Dorm Room Biz and he did such a great job with creating that theme from my design, that I have contracted him for this theme as well.

The theme is for a new site called Elite Entrepreneurs and will be at http://www.eliteentrepreneurs.net. The site should hopefully launch in about a month! Look out for another announcement come then.
